In the Centre of Hokitika and facing the Ocean and beach. Hokitika is approximately 30 minutes drive to Greymouth and 1. 5 hours drive to Franz Josef. The Oceanview block is the best hotel rooms not only in the town of Hokitika but also for a considerable way in either direction north or south on the West coast. Excellent views of the ocean. a moments walk to all the retail and restaurants of the town. Hokitika is famous for its Pounamu (greenstone or Jade) and the Maori carving of this stone into very attractive souvenirs. SE0910. The OceanView block was built in 2005 and is a separate four storey block from the main original hotel. A small restaurant serving local and international dishes. There is also a pub at the front of the complex an excellent place to meet some of the true locals. The Driftwood rooms are clean and tidy but basic. They are within the main hotel building. all are ensuite with shower and televisions. some have a view to the ocean but not all. The lobby is within the main hotel block and is small but functional. 5 kms to the nearest airport (hokitika), Close to the beach.
