The 'boutique hotel' where stands Al Mamlouka used to be a family owned house similar to the other Damascene houses in the Old City it is located in the Christian quarter, Quemarieh street. The hotel built around a central courtyard with an original fountain in the middle and a citrus/ bitter orange (Naranj) trees and an Iwan or Liwan. The hotel has 8 bedrooms five of them surrounded the courtyard and three one situated on the first floor, it has a terraces and private patios. It also it has an Old Bayke (stable), converted into a bar, breakfast room and a gallery. The hotel belongs to the 17th century and boasts original features from the 18th century. One of the suites, Suleiman the Magnificent, contains its own fountain in the shape of a rose and an original 230 year old Christian fresco on the ceiling.. Each room is entitled and decorated in traditional Syrian style using local products. Brocade is used to make the curtains and the beds are fitted with Damascene quilts.
