Katalena is located in the delightful village of Thornton Le-dale that offers plenty of history ancient churches (one in Elleburn) the Dalby beck that runs through the village and passes by the picturesque thatched cottage, most of us recognize on biscuit chocolate tins, postcards etc. The village offers plenty of Shops, a Chocolate Factory, Restaurants, Hairdresser, Tea Rooms, Pubs, a Post office, and a Pharmacy. The forest is a home for birds such as the crossbill and that elusive summer visitor the nightjar. Roe deer abound and badgers, the symbol of the forest, are a very common but nocturnal resident.
