Lone Pine Hotel Penang is strategically located on Batu Ferringhi along the tourist belt of Penang, and within walking distance to restaurants, shopping outlets and Penang's famous 'Night Bazaar'. It is 17 km from Georgetown and 31 km from Penang International Airport. The War Museum, Khoo Kongsi and Pinang Peranakan Mansion are all about a half-hour drive away. This beautifully restored hotel is a wonderful retreat for those who seek privacy amongst an idyllic setting. Established in 1948, this delightful sanctuary was the first hotel on sandy Batu Ferringhi beach, and today retains much of its old world charm, offering a wonderful hideaway to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This is the only boutique hotel along the coastline, with most of its 50 guestrooms, over three floors, facing the sea and shaded by a veil of lofty casuarina trees. It is air-conditioned with a lobby and hotel safe as well as bar, dining and parking facilities. There is also a laundry service available. Almost all rooms face the sea and open out onto a terrace, balcony or private courtyard, allowing the refreshing sea breeze into every room. Guest rooms are attentively furnished with families, couples as well as the solitary traveller in mind. Each room promises luxurious space and cosiness, with modern amenities such as en suite bathroom, direct dial telephone, individually adjustable air conditioning, hot water, frdige, tea/coffee making facilities and cable TV. Relaxing activities include an afternoon laze in hammocks under the shade of casuarina trees, a casual stroll along the beautiful sandy beach or a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. There is also a poolside snack bar and parasols available. Water sports are offered in the form of water and jet skiing and sailing. Dining here is traditional, yet features a contemporary twist boasting a tantalising blend of local and international fare, with a distinctive emphasis on Hainanese cuisine.
